Richmond Hill Figure Skating Club Competition

This season, the Richmond Hill Figure Skating Club will be holding its Annual Club Competition the afternoon of Saturday, February 11th, 2017.
Club Competition is a fun competition with events for our CanSkate and STARSkate programs. This is a great opportunity for skaters to try competing for the first time, in their home arena. Each skater will receive a goodie bag when they arrive.

All participants from CanSkate to STARSkate will be divided into 3 teams based on skill level. Skaters will compete against similar level skaters in groups of 3 to collect points for their team.

Points will be awarded as follows per event:
Gold = 5 points
Silver = 4 points
Bronze = 3 points

At the end of the competiton, each team will be awarded medals for the teams' overall result. Additionally skaters will receive a ribbon for their placement from the specific events.

ALL SKATERS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN UNTIL THE END OF THE COMPETITION FOR AWARDS.

Entry Fees:

-
CanSkate: $20 per skater for three element events (Balance, Control and Agility)

- STARSkate:
  $20 per skater for one program (FreeSkate or Interpretive)
  OR
  
$20 per skater for three Ultimate Element events (Ultimate Jump, Ultimate Spin and Ultimate Field Move)
    
** Geared for skaters without a program **
  STARSkate entries will receive a $5 discount if also registered for Skate Extreme

Fee must be paid in full in order for their entry to be accepted.

Eligibility: Skaters must be Richmond Hill Skating Club members who are actively registered in Richmond Hill Skating Club programs.

Entry Deadline: All entries must be submitted by no later than Sunday, December 18, 2016. Please note that no entries will be accepted after the deadline.

Test and Age Requirements: Test qualifications and age requirements are as of December 1st, 2016. All test information to be verified by the Test Chair.

Music:
Skaters must provide music on CD. Two clearly marked copies must be signed in at registration.

Commencement of Events: Competition schedule will be provided at a later date. Competitors must register at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the competition. All competitors are expected to remain until the end of competition when results for individual events and team overall results will be announced.

ABSOLUTELY NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE ENTRY DEADLINE!!!


CANSKATE EVENTS
Open to All Ages

Skaters perform elements in isolation from the CanSkate program. Skaters will be permitted only one attempt per element, no reskates permitted. Skaters may not enter both Canskate Elements events and STARSkate events.

Skaters will perform a total of three elements. Elements will be one of each of the CanSkate fundamentals:

Balance
-
Control
-
Agility

The element assignments will be announced closer to the competition date. Skaters will only be assigned elements have they have already completed successfully in the CanSkate program.

These categories are open to CanSkate members only. Skaters who are skating on STARSkate sessions and/or have passed any part of any Skate Canada test must enter one of the STARSkate events.

STARSKATE EVENTS
Open to all ages

PROGRAM EVENTS
A FreeSkate or Interpretive routine to music. Skaters must supply their own music. Costumes & Props are not permitted. Skaters are encouraged for FreeSkate programs to meet the Skate Canada Well Balanced Program Requirements. Skaters are only permitted to enter one program event.

ULTIMATE ELEMENT EVENTS
Skaters perform elements in isolation. Skaters will be permitted only one attempt per element, no reskates permitted. 

Elements will be one of:

Ultimate Jump ~ Jump events will ranked based on a mix of size of jump, power, speed and quality.
-
Ultimate Spin ~ Spin events will be ranked based on mix of achieving CPC standard position and number of revolutions.
- Ultimate Field Move ~ Field moves events will be ranked based on mix of duration and quality.

Skaters will be able to include in their registration their first and second pick for the appropriate element events. The element assignments will be announced closer to the competition date. The options included will be:
